Start a MOPS Group

How can I start a group in my church?

To maintain the integrity and characteristics of the MOPS ministry, MOPS Australia, Inc. charters groups though local churches of various denominations. The MOPS Faith Position Statement is central to the Charter Agreement and provides the vital spiritual base of the ministry. Agreement on these basic elements of theology, philosophy and goals is essential. A copy of this Statement is available on request.

There are three steps to chartering:

  • STEP 1 Information

An Information Kit will outline the MOPS program. This kit includes an application form for a pre-charter kit.The Information Kit may be obtained from chartering@mops.org.au or by writing to MOPS Australia, Inc. 316 Kingston Rd VIC 3168.

  • STEP 2 Pre-Charter

Applicants will be contacted by MOPS field staff personnel to assist them through the chartering process. The pre-charter kit contains Statement of Faith and Charter Application papers.

  • STEP 3 Charter

On receipt of Charter papers and chartering fee the new MOPS group will receive access to MOPS website to download MOPS leadership handbooks and other support material. Folders for handbooks and much more information will be forwarded from the national MOPS office.

  • STEP 4 Annual Charter Renewal

A charter renewal fee is due by 31 December each year. This fee covers the cost of providing ongoing support and assistance to the group through the provision of leadership training, a quarterly leadership magazine, regional networking and the availability of products, resources, books and pastoral support.

Groups chartering after July 31 will not be required to renew their charter until December 31 the following year.

The MOPS name, handbooks, logo and materials are owned solely and exclusively by MOPS Australia, Inc. and are for the exclusive use of currently chartered MOPS groups.
